JACKI-O: IT’S HARD OUT HERE FOR A FEMALE RAPPER
via: AHH
We all know we are in a recession for female rappers, but damn! Jacki-O has recently revealed that she was forced to give up her “nookie” in order for her to get a deal. “Everybody that signed [to her former label] had gotten their advance money, but when it came time for me to get my advance, I had to f*ck for my advance. It was ten stacks and I had to f*ck for it. So naturally it wasn’t something that I’m proud of doing. And I don’t advise any female to get into no business – be it music or whatever – and get exploited like that,” Jacki reportedly said.
“But I’m from the hood and if somebody offers you ten thousand dollars at one time to get out of the hood, and lets you go for your dream of doing music, you’re gonna run to that.”
What are your thoughts on these allegations?
Diamond vs. Princess (Crime Mob)
Last night Soulja Boy threw a blow out bash for some MTV show that’s airing soon. I was halfway invited to go. I say halfway because though the publicist claimed she added SOHH.com to the guest list she failed to send me over the specifics [what, when, where] and with gas prices being the way that they are, I opted to stay at home and let the blognistas do the work for me. And it looks like they came through because check this video out of Princess challenging Diamond to a lyrical battle.

T.I. Album Pushed back....again....
According to Billboard, Paper Trail has been pushed back to September 30. "We're not ready yet," said the rapper's publicist, who explained that that the video for the first official single, "Whatever You Like," "is being shot today and we need more time." The clip will be available in roughly two weeks.
T.I.'s current single, "No Matter What," has been out since April and reached 42 on Billboard's "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" chart.
Currently, T.I. is working with the Hip-Hop Caucus to help a vote registration initiative, "Get Out the Vote," aimed at young adults aged 18 to 29. The campaign begins today, (July 28) with a press conference in Washington, D.C. T.I. will serve as the major spokesman, but other celebrities and key figures will join in the effort as well.
Plies Lied About Criminal Past?
Hip Hop icon, and creator of the term “thug life,” Tupac Shakur, once confessed that although occasionally sprinkling his rhymes with mentions of felonious activities, he never actually had a record until he made a record.
So too appears to be the case with the arguable Tupac of 2007/2008, Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic Records recording artist, and promoter of his own criminal exploits, Plies. HipHopDX has obtained documentation from the state of Florida that lists the “definition of real” rapper’s first real run-in with the law to have not taken place until two years ago, on April 12, 2006, when Plies - real name Algernod Lanier Washington, born May 22, 1976 - would have been on the eve of his 30th birthday and just beginning his ascension to his current status of gold-certified rap star.
The email printout of the documentation, which appears at the end of this report, was obtained from the Florida Department Of Law Enforcement (FDLE) by paying the $24 fee and searching here [https://www2.fdle.state.fl.
The FDLE’s criminal record for Plies shows that the self-described “goon affiliated, ex drug dealer” who’s “resume solid, street cred bigger” has been arrested just twice within his home state of Florida during his adult life, with both arrests taking place two years ago. read full story...

Yesterday on the show, Mario was on as a co-host with Rocsi. As they came back from a commercial break mario presented Rocsi with flowers to which Rocsi said “Thank You! You are so sweet!” mario then revealed that the flowers were not from her, but from Terrence and proceeded to read her the following letter:
Rocsi took awhile to respond so Mario was about to go into a video to give her time to think about her answer but she says “no, i’m cool.Dear Rocsi,
You and I have been together for two years and in that time we’ve become family. But sometimes we foolishly take family for granted and sometimes with family we take it too far. So let me say my dearest Rocsilla, I took it too far that Rriday with my comment and I hope that you will forgive me. You are one of the most beautiful, talented and ambitious people I know and even the idea that I may have hurt you with my teasing has made me sad. From the bottom of my heart I hope that I will never ever ever hurt you again. It’s just not the same. A strong man needs a strong woman, so Rocsi please continue to be my rock. I have to take some time off from the show now but I hope to see you soon.
Love Terrence

Black in America: The Black Man, Wednesday, July 23, 9 p.m. (two hours) Perhaps the most misreported group in America today, black men are often stereotypically depicted in the media as convicts, gang members and absentee fathers. Told through the personal stories of graduates of the 1968 class of Little Rock Central High School, their sons and grandsons, for The Black Man, Soledad O’Brien seeks to determine whether life is better for black men now than it was 40 years ago. She reports on the disparities between blacks and whites in educational, career and economic achievement and factors leading to the devastating rates of black male incarceration. Contributing expert analysis are Harvard economist Dr. Roland Fryer, Princeton professor Dr. Devah Pager, journalist/social commentator Ellis Cose; and Georgetown University professor Dr. Michael Eric Dyson; and others. O’Brien reports on successes and dissects myths to explore the state of black men in America today.

Despite constant denials from rapper Rick Ross, details have emerged proving the entertainer worked as a corrections officer in the mid-90s.
According to TheSmokingGun.com, Department of Corrections records have been released showing the rapper (born William Leonard Roberts) worked as a prison guard for 18 months beginning in December 1995. Provided by DoC spokesperson Jo Ellyn Rackleff, Ross’ personal information including his Social Security number was verified and proved his employment.
Further details show he graduated from the DoC training academy where he was later assigned to the South Florida Reception Center in Dade County before leaving in June 1997. The facility is allegedly one of the three statewide locations which intakes new prisoners. He reportedly was earning a salary of $25,794.34 upon his departure.
When previously asked in a YouTube video if he had ever worked in a prison after being called out by fellow Miami rapper Trick Daddy, Ross responded “No, that’s not true.”
Ross was unavailable for comment at press time.
More News On Shawty Lo AKA LOL
This dude is funny.....Just read it for yourself.
Appearing on camera with the D4L chain that was reportedly stolen during the incident at Club Crucial, the Asylum recording artist held fast to his previous statements in the video statement, admitting that though a fight did break out at Crucial, he "didn't get touched period."
The interview was recorded on Thursday (Jul 17), the same day the man known simply as Meatball broke his silence, explaining his side of the story in an audio interview which surfaced online.
Meatball, who claims to be somewhat of a power figure in the Bankhead community, alleges that Lo, born Carlos Walker, was very much involved in the melee at Crucial on that fateful Saturday night, adding that the rapper's chain was handed to his assailants by someone in his own entourage. According to Meatball...

"I'm at a loss for words right now,” Murda Mami founder 1st Lady El told AllHipHop.com. “K-Swift was not only one of my Murda Mami sisters, she was a great friend. Vote...Its that simple.
This election means alot to me because...
1. Im 18 and this is my first time to vote.
2. It could possibly be a historical event.
3. Someone somewhat like me will be representing our country.
4. Over the last 8 years I've seen so much suffering from the current president.
5. I have quite a few loved ones overseas fighting a never ending cause.
There is more but I want divulge.
All Im saying is if you are of age take the time to register and take the time to vote. It is important this go around. I firmly believe OBAMA is someone genuinely set on change, and I think he bring to the table what alot of people need... HOPE!
ITS EFFECT ON HIPHOP:
In alot of our music your here complaints about the current state of our people. If you think that thats not a direct effect from the government, your blind. When it comes to record sales overall they are at a all time low. Some people might say.."they just aint making good music." Have you ever thought maybe that 12.99 at target might be too much for some people to afford today. I for one am ready for an improvement even if its minimal. Honestly, if you don't take the time to vote then you don't have a right to debate or complain about your current situation.
Your opinion will be irrelevant.
Just my Two Cents

Ludacris’s new album Theater Of The Mind is hitting stores this October, but I cant help but wonder why/how the hell EVERYONE is getting their first listens, but SOHH Gyant. What the f*ck is up with that?
When my homie over Rolling Stone magazine called me up and told me that Chaka ZuluLowkey over at BET just got his listen and now I'm truly baffled. stopped by their offices to play a few cuts for the track I wasn’t trippin’ because “hey” it’s Rolling Stone. However, now I’m getting word that my homie
I’ve been inquiring about this project since the beginning of the summer. I’ve spoken to Chaka Zulu personally about hearing some of the tracks. I was assured that it would happen, however now that EVERYONE seems to be hearing it but me [I'm sure I am being dramatic] it looks like I will just have to wait my turn like all the other consumers. Shawty Lo AKA LoL
Ok, so I have a couple friends from the A who I talk to regularly. They was telling me that Lo went to T.I.'s club Crucial and got MESSED UP!...not like drunk...but as in....ok I cant think of a better phrase than HE GOT HIS ASS KICKED!!! Sometimes my "friends" like to stretch the truth so I really didnt think nothing of it til I saw it posted up on AHH. Although it was in the "RUMOR" SECTION..I still think it might have come clout to it..word is there is footage. Story below....
_____
I have a bit more information on this scene. Now, nobody has threatened to kill me today so there might be something real about this. Somebody told me that the whole ordeal is on cameras at the club, which is owned by T.I. I wasn’t there so I can’t say whether or not it was factual or not. Like I said yesterday there was a rumor that Shawty Lo got “mopped up” at Club Crucial was the scene of a crime against rapper Shawty Lo. From what I understand, Crucial is TI's club on Bankhead. It was reportedly off the chain on Saturday. Shawty Lo and his whole click showed up at around 2:30 am on Saturday. I heard some dude named Meatball attacked Shawty Lo while a well-regarded song called “What Up” played. As you know, that is the diss record T.I. recently recorded. I heard that it was ugly. I heard that Club Crucial is confirming the incident and my sources swear by this.
_____
If this is true It is Kind of dumb for Lo to go to his "arch enemies" club to party. I mean you are putting money in his pocket even if the F-I-G-H-T didnt happen. But Oh well. and LOL @ him having to listen to "WHAT UUUUUUP"...
Devin the WHO??
Yeah I get that alot when I speak about Devin the Dude. IMO, he's the most slept on Artist in the South and has'nt yet got his chance to really shine on a big platform. I think its comming. Here is an article I ran across on the SOHH site a few minutes ago.
________
Fellowship music! That’s what I like to call it. Indie Label Razor and Tie have the pleasure of being the new home for Devin for a one-album deal. “Landing Gear” is his 5th album and it’s a no brainer it will be a classic. Razor does metal and punk music but have stepped up to the plate. Let’s just hope they can deliver with the promotion needed to continue pushing this classic blues brother all the way to the top.
Now you may be like what the hell, “ the top”. Yeah dumb the top, Devin Makes classic music and being with a non-hip hop label actually might give him the push he needs. He’s an artist that can sit beside any of your favorite musicians and make real music. Put him with John Mayer and watch what would happen.______
Ricky Ross Exposed???
OK. I think It's a wrap for homies rap career. Last week the hip-hop world were all talks about Ricky Ross shaky background. Reports were coming out the woodworks that "The Boss" tales of drug dealings and criminal activities might have been nothing more then a rouse. A picture surfaced showing the Miami rap star in what appeared to be police clothing and Trick Daddy is already accusing Ricky of working as a correctional officer.
Ross went on record denying the rumors, but now even more evidence has emerged. Check it out below...
As you can see this picture is worth a thousand words. The people over at keepittrill.com scored this pictures of someone who appears to be Ricky RossAccording to wikepedia Rick Ross real name is Williams Roberts. And this is what they have tagged under his early life:
Rick Ross was born William Roberts in the lower-class Carol City in Florida.[1] At Carol City Senior High School, he played football, and he later attended the historically black Albany State University in Albany, Georgia on a football scholarship.[2] He began rapping around the mid-1990s, at which time he formed the five-man amateur group Carol City Cartel.[3][Source]
Ricky has gone on record as saying the following:
I don't know it looks real to me"My life is 100 per cent real. These online hackers putting a picture of my face when I was a teenager in high school on other peoples' body. If this s**t was real don't you think they would have more specifics, like dates and everything?"

T-Pain Calls Out “Karaoke N*ggas” On Upcoming Album
Hip-Hop hit maker T-Pain has become more vocal about rappers using his signature robot-like sound as he prepares to drop his new album, Thr33 Ringz, this fall.
Afer appearing on on such major hit singles as Kanye West’s “Good Life” and Flo Rida’s “Low,” - both using his signature Auto-Tuned software - Pain is ready to address the copycats.
“People I look up to, legends who don’t have to be using Auto-Tune, they using it,” he told Rolling Stone magazine.
Translating his personal feelings into songs, Pain has specifically made a track “F.U.” along with “Karaoke” which has him throwing shots at “karaoke n*ggas” by singing “Your daughter told you to get off daddy’s d*ck!” Full Story
Sucks to be Scott Storch right now!!
Just a few years ago, Scott Storch was one of the top producers in pop music, living in a $10.5 million mansion on an exclusive Miami island, driving a phalanx of luxury cars and dating the likes of Paris Hilton and Lil Kim.
Nowadays, Scott Storch, 34, is missing in action. He owes over $500,000 in real estate taxes and had a warrant out for his arrest when he failed to show up in court in a child-support case last month. He has not had a top 10 hit in three years. He still has his waterfront marble mansion, but his lawyer, Guy Spiegelman, says Storch is attempting to refinance it after a "catastrophic occurrence this year" resulting from "mismanagement." Storch no longer works with his old manager or publicist. He hasn't talked to either of his children in months
Raised in South Florida and the Philadelphia area, Storch is a high-school dropout from a broken, middle-class family who turned serious musician chops and intense ambition into a high-flying career. Vanessa Bellido met him when they were both in high school and he was a talented keyboardist.
"He always knew what he wanted to be," she says. "He would play the piano unbelievably. He was like, 'I'm going to make it, I'm going to make it.' Even at 15 he was an old soul. Real smart, real different."
While still a teen, Storch was a founding member of the Roots. He produced their breakthrough single "You Got Me," which helped Philly's acclaimed live hip-hop band win a Grammy, and gave the sandy-haired Jewish producer serious hip-hop credentials. Deciding he preferred studios to touring, Storch moved to Los Angeles to work with Dr. Dre. There his keyboard loops helped form the basis of such hits as "Still D.R.E." He produced seven tracks on Christina Aguilera's "Stripped" album, including "Can't Hold Us Down," which featured Lil Kim.For Full Story CLICK HERE
